Frequently Asked Questions
What are your top recommendations for Stone and Tile flooring?
With glossy finished tile flooring, given the wide variety of finishes used with tile floors, we often recommend natural rubber, 100% felt, or felt & rubber rug pads as the safest choice. However, if possible, consult with your flooring manufacturer as they will know which materials are 100% safe to use. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us and we can point you in the right direction.
With larger uneven tile floors a thicker pad may promote rug evenness and reduce lines - either a Pure Cushion or Dual Purpose pad.
With polished concrete floors, we recommend using a natural rubber rug pad, not vinyl.
With harsh and rougher stone & concrete finishes, Anchor Grip and Comfort Grip have a tougher coat designed to protect against harsher and less forgiving flooring surfaces.
Which rug pads do you recommend for basement flooring?
With basement flooring, we recommend pads that can withstand rougher and less forgiving floor surfaces such as our Dual Purpose and Pure Cushion rug pads. If you’re looking for something with a lower profile, I would opt for our Anchor Grip rug pad.
When do you recommend a thin pad vs. a thick one?
Thicker rug pads add an extra layer of cushioning between your area rug and flooring. Thinner carpet pads are better for gripping in high traffic areas. We typically recommend thicker rug pads for larger room rugs and lower profile pads for high traffic areas, however in the end it’s a personal preference of the consumer.
Are any of your rug pads waterproof? Will they mold or mildew over time?
All of our rug pads can sustain some level of water exposure without harming performance. However, the only pads that contain spill proof moisture barriers that will prevent liquids from reaching your floors are SpillTech, Anchor Grip and Cloud Comfort rug pads. These will preventing pet urine or spills from reaching your floors.
Do your rug pads contain any glues or adhesives?
No. Our rug pads do not include any glues or chemicals that may hurt floors.
Will my rug pad smell when I remove it from the packaging?
No. Our pads do not come with any noticeable odors. We make sure the pads have been properly aired and cured before shipping to the customer.
