Contour Lock is a 1/8’’-thick felt and rubber rug pad that offers a strong grip with moderate levels of cushioning without bulking.
Contour Lock’s solid design protects floors from scratching and rug backings, which also makes it an ideal mate for rugs with rough backings; it’s particularly well-suited to flat-woven rugs such as Kilims, Dhurries, and Soumaks.
Contour Lock’s felt is heat-pressed to a 1/8”-thick density and securely fasten to the bottom of your area rug. Our backing is made from a natural rubber blend which contains less clay filler to prevent premature degradation of pads in high-traffic areas. (Synthetic latex, aka styrene-butadiene, often is blended with less expensive clay fillers that cause the rubber to break down more quickly.)
Maximum roll width is 12 feet. All pads wider than 12 feet will be cut-to-order in equal pieces.

Frequently Asked Questions
What type of backing does Contour Lock have?
Contour Lock is made with a natural rubber backing. Our backing is engineered to avoid common problems such as floor staining and stripping that can occur with lesser quality padding.
Is Contour Lock safe on all hard surface flooring?
Contour Lock is safe for all floors and finishes as long as you follow your flooring manufacturer's instructions and wait for proper curing times. With odd floor finishes, such as waxed, polished, vinyl, lacquered, and acrylic, be sure to check with your flooring manufacturer as some will recommend using a natural rubber pad while others will recommend using a vinyl pad.
Which rug types work well with Contour Lock?
Contour Lock is one of our most versatile pads and can be used with all rug types and styles. With smaller rugs and runner rugs, Contour Lock will add a layer of cushioning without the bulk of a thicker pad. With larger rugs, Contour Lock will combine moderate cushion with a strong gripping power. Contour Lock, like all felt and rubber rug pads, work really well with low pile rugs, such as flat weaves. Contour Lock also works well with wool, tufted, knotted, and hooked rugs.
Could Contour Lock be used with smaller area rugs?
Yes. Contour lock works well with smaller rugs, especially if you're looking to add a layer of cushion without raising your rugs too high off the ground in high traffic areas.
With regards to felt & rubber rug pads, when would you recommend Contour Lock vs Superior Lock?
Both of our Felt + Rubber rug pads are Dual Purpose pads, designed to offer high levels of both cushioning and grip. Superior lock is thicker than contour lock, thus offering more cushion if your looking to maximize comfort. Superior Lock also has a textured reinforced backing that offers slightly more grip than Contour Lock. Therefore, go with Contour Lock if you for a more flush look with moderate cushioning and Superior Lock if your looking to really maximize cushion.
Is Contour Lock odor free?
Yes. Our felt & rubber pads do not come with any noticeable odors.
