Customer Questions & Answers

  • I'm looking for the best gripping mat for small dhurrie and klilim rugs or a hardwood floor. Also, what is the main difference between those two types of rugs? One more question - how about for a larger kilim on a tile floor?

The Contour Lock or Superior Lock would both work. Contour Lock comes in only 1/8 thickness and Superior Lock has two different thickness: 1/4 and 7/16. The Contour Lock and Superior Lock pads are both designed to protect floors from scratching and rug backings. This makes them both a good choice for rugs with rough backing such as Dhurrie and Kilims.

  • I have waxed oak floors and my installer hasn't been able to tell me what rug pad to use. I bought the RugPro pads before reading on your website that waxed floors are considered unusual. Can I use them safely?

We can't really recommend a pad without knowing what the floor manufacturer's guidelines are. However, you could look at a non-slip pad like Anchor Grip which contains no rubber. If your rug is larger than 8' x 10' then the Eco Plush pad is also suitable. This is a 100% all felt pad but note that it has no grip.

  • My 3/8” thick wool area rug will go under a heavy coffee table on a laminate floor. So I don’t need grip. What pad is best and how long is delivery to Florida? Will you cut it to be smaller than the rug? Also, is the Eco Plush on Amazon the same as yours?

Eco Plush is definitely the pad for you if you don't need a pad with grip. I would recommend the 1/4" thickness. Typically, delivery takes three to four business days. With regards to cutting, we will take about 2" off the sides to ensure it's a perfect fit underneath your rug. And yes this is the same pad as the one you saw on Amazon, but if you decide to purchase from them be aware they have a slightly different return policy. They do not offer free returns unless the product is damaged or defective or if you receive the wrong pad.

  • What pad do I need to stop my kilim rug from slipping?

Our Superior Lock 1/4" works best for kilim rugs. It has a grooved natural rubber backing that will keep your rug firmly in its place.

  • I am looking for a pad that will provide the most cushioning but still not skid or allow the rug to shift on the pad. What do you suggest?

The Superior Lock 7/16" is the best choice. This felt and natural rubber pad has generous cushioning and powerful non-slip traction that keeps rugs firmly in place. Your rug will not skid across the floor nor will it move on the pad.
