Customer Questions & Answers
I'm looking for the best gripping mat for small dhurrie and klilim rugs or a hardwood floor. Also, what is the main difference between those two types of rugs? One more question - how about for a larger kilim on a tile floor?
The Contour Lock or Superior Lock would both work. Contour Lock comes in only 1/8 thickness and Superior Lock has two different thickness: 1/4 and 7/16. The Contour Lock and Superior Lock pads are both designed to protect floors from scratching and rug backings. This makes them both a good choice for rugs with rough backing such as Dhurrie and Kilims.
I have waxed oak floors and my installer hasn't been able to tell me what rug pad to use. I bought the RugPro pads before reading on your website that waxed floors are considered unusual. Can I use them safely?
We can't really recommend a pad without knowing what the floor manufacturer's guidelines are. However, you could look at a non-slip pad like Anchor Grip which contains no rubber. If your rug is larger than 8' x 10' then the Eco Plush pad is also suitable. This is a 100% all felt pad but note that it has no grip.
My 3/8” thick wool area rug will go under a heavy coffee table on a laminate floor. So I don’t need grip. What pad is best and how long is delivery to Florida? Will you cut it to be smaller than the rug? Also, is the Eco Plush on Amazon the same as yours?
Eco Plush is definitely the pad for you if you don't need a pad with grip. I would recommend the 1/4" thickness. Typically, delivery takes three to four business days. With regards to cutting, we will take about 2" off the sides to ensure it's a perfect fit underneath your rug. And yes this is the same pad as the one you saw on Amazon, but if you decide to purchase from them be aware they have a slightly different return policy. They do not offer free returns unless the product is damaged or defective or if you receive the wrong pad.
What pad do I need to stop my kilim rug from slipping?
Our Superior Lock 1/4" works best for kilim rugs. It has a grooved natural rubber backing that will keep your rug firmly in its place.
I am looking for a pad that will provide the most cushioning but still not skid or allow the rug to shift on the pad. What do you suggest?
The Superior Lock 7/16" is the best choice. This felt and natural rubber pad has generous cushioning and powerful non-slip traction that keeps rugs firmly in place. Your rug will not skid across the floor nor will it move on the pad.
Do you have a recommendation for what works well to cover hardwood floors in a dining room? A bit of cushion is nice, but I'm more concerned about chairs getting caught on the rug.
The Contour Lock felt and natural rubber pad would work well for you. This is a low-profile non-slip pad that provides a comfortable level of cushioning. It will keep your rug firmly in place when chairs are being moved.
We purchased a 5' x 4' oil-based rug for our wood floors and were advised to get a felt pad because the oil base could interact with the floor finish. I am not sure if the entire pad should be felt or just the side facing the carpet. What do you think?
We have dual purpose pads that provide comfort and cushioning and I think they would work for you. They are our Contour Lock and Superior Lock felt and natural rubber pads where the felt side faces up and the rubber side faces down. They are safe for hardwood floors, however, before making a purchase I recommend you call the floor's manufacturer to check that natural rubber can be used on your wood.
I need an anti-slip pad for a 5' x 4' cotton rug on a radiant floor. What do you recommend?
To keep your rug firmly in place, I would suggest either a Contour Lock pad or a Superior Lock pad. Nature's Grip would not be suitable for your floor.
What pad do you suggest for a 5 by 4 Persian carpet on a porcelain tile floor?
I would look at our Contour Lock pad. This is a low profile recycled felt and natural rubber pad that is 1/8” thick. It has a strong grip that will stop your rug from slipping and sliding all over the tile floor.
I need one for a thinly woven 5x4 semi-antique Persian rug on antique pumpkin pine. I mostly want a pad to protect the rug. It's not in a high-traffic area, but we do walk on it.
I would suggest the Superior Lock rug pad if natural rubber is okay for your floor type. It will help to preserve the beauty and longevity of your rug. But first I suggest you contact your floor manufacturer to see if natural rubber is okay. If you do not know the manufacturer then go for Anchor Grip which will also do a superb job.
We just had Hallmark luxury and premium vinyl flooring installed in our large area living room. Is Anchor Grip the right pad to use under rugs?
Yes, it is. The Anchor Grip rug pad is completely safe for vinyl flooring. This pad will protect your floor while providing a strong grip and a comfortable level of cushioning.
I am interested in your Eco Plush pad for a wool rug with pile. My question is about rug measurements when you have a selvage with fringe like my rug does. Should I measure the length from the woven selvage edge not including the fringe?
Yes, you never measure the fringe just width by length woven to woven. And you would pick your thickness based on how thick your rug is.
I have a 5 feet x 4 feet silk Chinese rug with a glass and brass coffee table on it. What type of pad should I get to cushion the weight of the table?
My recommendation is the Superior Lock 1/4" felt and natural rubber pad. It will help with cushioning and will give your rug stability.
