Natural Rubber Rug Pads
Choosing the Best Natural Rubber Rug Pad
Natural rubber out-grips and outperforms most traditional plastic padding, and is more sustainable than PVC or plastic rug pads. It's also safer on most floor finishes than PVC (aside from certain vinyl finishes that may not be suitable to combine with rubber). This is especially true with imported plastic padding, which often contains plasticizers that can harm your floor surface.
Benefits of a Natural Rug Pad
There are lots of benefits of using a natural rug pad like our rantural rubber rug pads. Here are a few benefits that we think make the biggest difference.
Eco-Friendly and Sustainable
Our rubber rug pads use natural rubber from real rubber trees so it is more sustainable and eco-friendly than other PVC and plastic rug padding. We won't lie to you and say that natural rubber is perfect. There have been issues with the natural rubber industry. However, it can be done responsibly and in a way that's sustainable – and that's what we go for.
Non Slip Grip
Natural rubber is one of the best solutions for rug gripper out there. It creates a non slip rug pad that will grip your floor and rug without sticking to them like some rug grippers or carpet tape does.
This is especially important on hard floors that are often slippery or for smaller rugs and runner rugs that have a tendency to move around. While there are other solutions for getting a rug to stay in place such as rugs with a rubber backing, a rubber pad offers a safe, low profile solution perfect for door mats, entryway rugs, or other rugs in high-traffic areas.
Want to see all your options for a non slip rug pad? Check out our non slip collection.
For larger rugs like an area rug you may not need to worry about non slip and instead want more cushioning. In that case, a felt pad or memory foam pad might be a better choice. See more of these options in our cushion collection.
Safe For Flooring
Whether you have laminate flooring, hardwood flooring, or another type of hard surface floor, our natural rubber pads will protect your floor and your rug. Our natural rubber rug pads will never stain or discolor your floor surface.
With thin rugs, certain rug sizes, door mats, or hallway rugs, a thick rug pad can be a massive pain in the butt or even a tripping hazard. With a thin natural rubber rug pad, you can avoid too much cushion and let your rug shine without too much foam.
The one downfall of our thin rug pads, is you won't has as much cushion. The Super Lock Natural rug pad offers a comfortable level of padding with its waffle design, but it won't have as much padding as some of our felt rug pads or memory foam pads.

Why natural rubber vs. pvc rug pads?
Natural Rubber grips and performs better than most pvc and plastic alternatives. Unlike plastic padding, natural rubber will grip your floors, rather than stick to your floors. Natural is the safe and sustainable alternative to harmful PVC plastic padding. Natural Rubber pads protect floors from sticking and staining onto its surface while lending better friction for a strong, natural grip.

No. Our rug and carpet pads are specifically engineered to avoid common issues such as floor staining and stripping. Generally rug pads that stick, stain, or mar flooring are made with low-quality materials.

Natural rubber is typically harvested from rubber trees and it is safe to breathe.
I am thinking about using a rug pad under sofa legs on hardwood floors. Will this prevent the sofa from slipping?

These two low-profile pads are both about 1/8" thick.

I have a 2' x 6' rug runner on a hardwood floor in a high-traffic hallway. I think I've narrowed down my rug pad selection to either the Anchor Grip or Super Lock Natural. Which would you recommend?
I recommend the Super Lock Natural rug pad. This is our best-gripping pad, and it excels at stopping rugs and runners from moving when they are being walked on.

It doesn't matter which side you decide to put up or down.
Does Natural Lock harm bamboo flooring? Do you think it would work for a 5' x 7' area rug? I'm more concerned about grip than cushioning.

Can I use Nature's Grip on finished hardwood floors and marble tile floors?
Nature's Grip is safe for both types of floor, but I would contact the floor manufacturers and ask them for guidelines on what’s okay to put down on the hardwood and tiles.

The Super Lock Natural non-slip pad is our most breathable product. It is made of natural rubber and has a waffle design that allows airflow between a rug and the floor it is lying on.
