Customer Questions & Answers
-
Spilltech vs. Cloud Comfort vs. Eco Plush - which is best for my rug?
All three pads are designed to provide superior levels of comfort for larger rugs that do not need a non-slip rug pad. Cloud Comfort (memory foam) is going to be the most comfortable but also be the most expensive. SpillTech is for the specialty buyer who wants to add cushion while preventing spills and stains from reaching their floors (ex. pet owners). Eco Plush offers premium levels of comfort at varying thickness levels, allowing you to choose how much cushion you prefer.
-
What material are your foam pads made of?
Cloud Comfort is made with 100% visco-elastic polyurethane foam. SpillTech is made with select rebonded foam. Cloud Comfort made in part with soybean oils and natural minerals. SpillTech is also hypoallergenic.
-
What floor types can your memory foam pads be used with?
Our foam pads are safe for all floor types long as you follow your flooring manufacturers carefully and wait for proper curing times.
-
Will these pads prevent slipping?
No. Neither Cloud Comfort nor SpillTech will prevent rugs from slipping. They are designed for larger rugs (6’x9’ & larger) that often do not need a non-slip rug pad. Due to rug pad thickness, they aren’t ideal for smaller rugs as they will raise rugs too high off the ground and may create a tripping hazard.
-
A vapor and sound barrier adhesive was used to install our engineered wood floor which is over concrete. There is a need for the rug pad to breathe, particularly with a power failure and lack of AC. Which of your products permits moisture to escape?
I would suggest either Super Lock Natural which is a natural rubber pad or Eco Plush which is made entirely of heat-pressed felt. Both pads are breathable and therefore moisture is easily able to escape. They are also mold and mildew resistant.
-
Which would be the best pad for sound insulation to reduce the noise impact of footsteps?
If your rug is large enough the 1/2" Cloud Comfort memory foam pad would be the best option but it is not non-slip. If you need a strong grip as well as soundproofing then the Superior Lock 7/16" is best.
-
I have wooden floors and would like to stop sound from traveling downstairs. Which pad would work best?
Either the Cloud Comfort 1/2" or the Superior Lock 7/16" if you are also looking for a non-slip pad. Both will greatly reduce noise levels as well as stop your rug from moving.
-
Which of your pads is good for soundproofing? We have a two-year-old and we are trying to keep our downstairs area quiet. We have standard, regular floor rugs.
Depending on the size of your rugs, you can go with Cloud Comfort or Superior Lock 7/16". Both do great jobs of minimizing the impact of sounds within homes. If you need non-slip attributes as well as soundproofing, go with Superior Lock.
-
Which of your rug pads is best for soundproofing?
Our best pad to eliminate and minimize noises is the 1/2" Cloud Comfort. However, this pad doesn't have a lot of grip. If you want non-slip traction and soundproofing try the Superior Lock 7/16" pad.
-
I have tile flooring and a 7'8" x 10'4" rug, and would like to create a setup where my friends would feel comfortable sitting on the floor. Will Cloud Comfort work for my needs?
Yes, it will, but do keep in mind that Cloud Comfort is not a non-slip pad. If you would like a gripping pad that is also comfy and soft there is our Superior Lock felt and natural rubber pad. It comes in three different thicknesses with 7/16" being the thickest.
-
Will the 7/16" Cloud Comfort pad work with a thin wool carpet?
It really depends on the size of the rug. If it is under 9' x 12' there is a good chance that the rug will move.
-
Can I use the Cloud Comfort pad for a rug that measures slightly less than 8' x 10'? My partner really wants the cushy feel, but I am concerned that it might cause a tripping hazard.
I don't think this pad will create a tripping hazard. But if you are worried, I suggest the 1/4" thickness would be best.
-
I have a small grand piano that I plan to place over a rug and rug pad. Will the piano's weight leave permanent depressions if I use a Cloud Comfort pad?
If you are concerned about indents, I recommend Cloud Comfort at 1/4" thickness. You should be fine with that.
-
Do the felt pads like Eco Plush distribute weight better than the Cloud Comfort foam pad? I want the most comfortable pad for lying on the floor in the living room.
The best pad for lying on the floor in the way you want is the 7/16" thick Cloud Comfort rug pad. It is softer than the Eco Plush pad and as it is memory foam it will compress and conform to the shape of the person that is lying on it. This pad is made of the same materials as memory foam mattresses.
-
Which of your rug pads is best for sound insulation?
Although not specifically designed for this purpose, the Cloud Comfort 7/16" is best for sound insulation. This visco-elastic memory foam pad does an excellent job of reducing sound transmission.
-
Do you have a memory foam pad that grips?
No, we don't. Our Cloud Comfort rug pad is made of visco-elastic memory foam but it is not a non-slip pad.
-
My 13' x 10' Persian rug doesn't have a very high pile. Would an eco-friendly felt or memory foam pad be best? Also, should I choose 1/4" or 7/16" thickness? Any suggestions? I am concerned about the rug being elevated. Is 7/16" very noticeable?
You can go with either one, although the memory foam will provide the most comfort. The way to decide on thickness is to think about how much plusher you want your rug to be. I recommend Eco Plush or Cloud Comfort for your rug. We will cut the pad slightly smaller so it won't show. If you are worried about the pad's height I suggest 1/4" thickness. And if you don't like the pad, you can return it within 30 days of purchase for a full and no quibble refund.
-
I would like the Cloud Comfort rug pad but am worried about the height being noticeable or looking strange. Would the 7/16" thickness be noticeable especially around the borders? If I went for something thinner would it be less cushy?
There's no need to worry about the pad showing because we will cut a slightly smaller size to avoid this problem completely. If you are worried about the height of the pad, I suggest you choose the 1/4" thickness. This would be less cushy than the thicker version.
-
Could your Cloud Comfort pad damage my hardwood floor over time?
No, this pad is perfectly safe for hardwood floors. We guarantee Cloud Comfort to last for at least 20 years.
