Rug Pads for Laminate Floors

Its important that you find a rug pad that won’t react or discolor the protective coating used on laminate flooring. Quality PVC & Felt rug pads are typically recommended with laminate flooring, unless otherwise instructed by your flooring manufacturer.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the safest materials to use on laminate flooring?

We have never had any issues with any of or pads damaging, marring, or staining laminate floor finishes in the last 10 years. However, due to the ever changing nature of laminate floors, we do recommend you contact your flooring manufacturer if possible. Flooring manufacturers know exactly what materials are safe to use on their floors.

  • Will your rug pads stick to laminate floors?

No, our rug pads will not stick to laminate floors as long as you follow your flooring manufacturer's instructions and wait for proper curing times. The concern most people have with rug pads damaging floors comes from imported PVC pads which contain chemicals which can off-gas and react with the chemicals used in laminate finishes, causing floors to stain or yellow.

  • How thick should my rug pad be for my laminate floors?

The thickness of your rug pad should depend on which issues you wish to address with your rug.

For small rugs and hallway runners, it’s best to go with a strong gripping rug pad with less cushion, as a thicker pad may cause people to trip. Our Pure Grip pads include Nature’s Grip, Super Lock Natural, and Anchor Grip.

Moderately sized rugs, 3’x5’ to 6’x9’ require a non slip rug pad. You should choose a Pure Grip rug pad if cushion is not a priority, and a Dual Purpose pad for cushion and grip.

For larger rugs (7’x10’+) that are often anchored down with furniture, a pure cushion pad such as Eco Fiber or Cloud Comfort offers varying levels of comfort for rugs that may not need a non slip rug pad. Some larger rugs, often thinner rugs such as flat woven rugs and other thin area rugs require non slip support and will buckle and wrinkle without a non slip pad. A dual purpose pad is a fantastic pair with thinner rugs, providing the cushioned support needed while promoting rug evenness.

  • Do your rug pads contain any glues or adhesives?

No. Our rug pads do not include any glues or chemicals that may hurt floors.

  • Will my rug pad smell when I remove it from the packaging?

No. Our pads do not come with any noticeable odors. We make sure the pads have been properly aired and cured before shipping to the customer.

  • Do you custom cut your rug pads?

Yes, we professionally custom cut our rug pads to fit any rug dimension.  All of our rug pads are cut directly from the roll by a trained staff member.

Before adding a product to your cart, all you need to do is enter your rug's size and shape. We will take between 1-1.5’’ off all sides, depending on how thick the pad is. All of this will be detailed for you after you fill out the product form. If you have a more complex request, you’re free to offer alternative cutting instructions ("special instructions") as well.
