The Benefits of Our Area Rug Pads

Ever thought to yourself, “do I need a rug pad?” It’s a fair question. If you have a rug, the answer is probably, yes, you need a rug pad.

Why? Because rug padding isn’t just about giving you a luxurious and comfy rug (though that is a nice perk). Here are all the benefits our rug pads offer.

Floor Protectors

Rug pads help prevent irreparable damages, blemishes and scratches to your floor.

Rug Protectors

A high-quality rug pad prolongs the life, beauty, and strength of your rug because it acts as a buffer against everyday friction.

More Comfort

Cushioned rug pads can make your rug softer and more comfortable to walk or sit on.

Non-Slip Grip

Keep your rugs exactly where you want them without constant adjustment. Our non-slip rug pad collection has next-level gripping capabilities.

Putting a rug over hard flooring can help keep your house cozy over the winter, but a thick rug pad under that rug will do even more.

USA Made

We manufacture our rug pads domestically in Georgia and cut them at our warehouse in Connecticut. American manufacturing gives us better control over the quality of our rug pads while keeping jobs in the United States.

Free and Fast Shipping

If your order is placed before 2pm EST, we will custom cut and ship out your rug pad that same day. For all orders placed after 2pm EST, your package will ship out the following day. Check out our shipping options for an estimate on how long it will take for your delivery to get to your home.

Custom Cut Rug Pads

We professionally custom-cut our rug pads to fit any rug dimension. When you add a product to your cart, enter your rug's size and shape and we’ll take between 1-1.5’’ off all sides, depending on how thick the pad is.

If you want to know more about all the benefits of a premium rug pad, you can read our page explaining why rug pads are so important.

“Love the Luxurious Feel of the Pad”

We recently got hardwood floors and needed a rug pad that we could confidently put on these expensive floors knowing it would not damage them! After some online research, we found RugPadUSA and quickly checked reviews - AWESOME! We ordered the “Superior Lock 7/16 inch thick pad” and it quickly arrived in 3 days. The pad is on the floor with our rug and it is awesome! We love the luxurious feel of the pad and rug together! Thank you so much for the great product and quick delivery!

Choosing Carpet Pads For Your Home

Finding the right rug pad can be a challenge but we're here to make sure you find the perfect rug pad that won’t damage, stain, or harm your flooring or rugs.

The Best Rug Pad by Floor Type

Flooring is expensive and you don't want your rug or rug pad to damage it. Whether you have hardwood floors, laminate floors, or other types of hard floors, we'll help you find a rug pad that will keep both your floors and rugs safe.

What Are The Best Rug Pads for Hardwood Floors?

Hardwood flooring is beautiful, but sometimes you just want some extra cushion or color to add something more to the room. That doesn't mean you should have to sacrifice your nice wood floors though.

The Best Rug Pads for Carpet

You might wonder if it's weird to have a rug on top of carpet, but we are 100% for it! There are some great ways to make it look fantastic with colors and layering.

The biggest issue with putting rugs on your carpet is the rug bunching up or wrinkling. The best rug pad for carpet to solve this issue is our carpet lock rug pad.

“Happy Feet!”

I never thought I’d swoon over a rug pad but I’m in love. Top quality and perfect for under a rug on top of carpet. It gives my rug just a hint of lift for a polished look.

The Best Rug Pad for Laminate Floors

Hard laminate flooring is an excellent choice to have a beautiful floor on a budget, but it's all for nothing if your rug or rug pad damages the floor.

We have never had any issues with any of our pads damaging, marring, or staining laminate floor finishes in the last 10 years. However, due to the ever-changing nature of laminate floors, we recommend you contact your flooring manufacturer if possible. Some laminate flooring manufacturers say to only use all natural rubber rug pads while others say no rubber, so we highly recommend checking with your flooring manufacturer.

Then we’ll be able to suggest the very best choice rug pad for your laminate floors.

“Comfy And Cushy, Without The Bulk!”

I bought rug pads to provide cushion under my 8' x 10' and 5' 3" x 7' 7" rugs, and to protect my laminate floors. They are comfy and cushy, without the bulk! I love walking barefoot on my rugs now. Can't believe I waited so long to buy them!

The Best Rug Pad for Tile Floors

With uneven tile floors, rug pad thickness is especially important to make up for the uneven tile. We recommend getting a thick rug pad to keep your rug from wearing down unevenly.

Sometimes you just need your rug to stay in place on your tile. In that case, the best non slip rug pad for tile floor would likely be either superior lock (in 1/4" thickness or 7/16” thickness) for a thicker rug pad or Nature’s Grip for a thin rug pad.

“Doesn't Budge On Our Tile Bathroom Floor”

I will never buy rug pads from ANYWHERE else! This style [the Superior Lock] doesn't budge on our tile bathroom floor, and is soft under foot. Can't beat the quality or price!

Rug Pads for Other Floor Types

The Best Rug Pad by Rug Size

Sometimes the type of rug or rug size will determine the type of rug pad that will be best for you. Whether you have a flatweave rug, area rug, needlepoint rug, runner rug, or any other type, we're here to help.

What Size Rug Pad Do I Need For My Rug?

We create rug padding for all different sized rugs, from a 12x15 rug pad to 3x5 rug pads and everything in-between. Need 8x10 rug pads? We’ve got you covered.

Simply enter your rug’s exact dimensions and we will cut your pad 1” to 1.5’’ shorter than your rug’s size. With thicker rug pads, we take 1.5’’ off on all sides and with lower profile pads we take 1’’ off on all sides, enough to keep the pad hidden from view.

All of our rug pads can be cut to any dimension you need.

Common Area Rug Sizes

Small And Throw Rugs (2x3 Up To 3x5)

The most common small area rug sizes range from 2x3 feet to 3x5 feet. Most 2x3 area rugs or 3x5 area rugs are used in small spaces, like next to the kitchen sink or outside of the front door. Depending on where your small area rug is located, you’ll want a rug pad that can stand up to the task. Small indoor area rugs are more likely to shift and slip with regular use, so they require better gripping to keep them anchored to the floor. We recommend our 3x5 rug pads, which offer a firm grip and low profile.

Medium Rugs (4x6, 6x9)

Most 4x6 area rugs and 6x9 area rugs require good gripping to keep them anchored in place. However, the thickness of the 4x6 rug pad or 6x9 rug pad depends on how your area rug is being used. For most medium sized area rugs, you’ll want a good balance of cushion and grip.

Large Area Rugs (8x10, 8x11 9x12)

If you have large area rugs, you want to be sure to get the right area rug pad for it. With area rugs, you often won't have to be as concerned with it slipping or bunching up because you can anchor it with furniture. However, it's good to think about a rug pad to protect floors and your rug from that heavy furniture as well as getting extra cushioning so it's extra comfy.

For more information, check out our guide on how to choose the right rug pad.

We custom cut all our rug pads to match your rug size and shape perfectly, but some of the most common area rug pad sizes we get are pads for 9x12 area rugs and 8x10 area rugs.

Rug Pads for Runner Rugs

A runner rug or entryway rug in a high traffic area has unique needs because it is more prone to slippage. To avoid this, we recommend choosing a low-profile rug pad with grip like our RugPro, Nature's Grip, or Super Lock Natural.

Rug Pads for Outdoor Rugs

An outdoor area rug has specific needs because it has to be able to stand up to outdoor conditions. For a good outdoor rug pad, we recommend Super Lock Outdoor rug pad because it can withstand harsher outdoor conditions like rain and snow and has good airflow to prevent mold and mildew.

Rug Grip Is Holding Its Place!

I have a very windy balcony and this rug grip is holding its place! Great for yoga too.

The Best Carpet Pads by Material

There are a variety of different materials to choose from when it comes to rug pads and we want to make sure you get the right one for you and your floors.

Natural Rubber Rug Pads

Natural rubber sheet rug pads are great for preventing slippage while still protecting your floors and being non-toxic.

Natural rubber comes from real rubber trees and is a more eco-friendly alternative to traditional PVC and plastic padding. It is safer for flooring surfaces than other rubber rug pads or rubber padding for carpet made with synthetic PVC, which can ruin your floors. Our natural rubber rug pads are guaranteed never to stain or discolor floor surfaces.

Check out our blog post to learn more about the benefits of a rubber rug pad.

Felt Rug Pads

Whether you want a 100% felt rug pad or a natural rubber and felt rug pad, we have a variety of different premium rug pads to choose from. Our Eco-Plush felted rug pad is a great option because we use 100% recycled synthetic fibers from new unused carpet fibers and yarn.

The pads do not have any glues, bonding agents, or adhesives. They’re also safe on flooring, non-toxic, and eco-friendly. Our felt pads or felt and rubber pads come in a variety of thicknesses including 1/4", 3/8", 7/16”, and 1/2" depending on the level of cushion you want.

"Very Pleased With Eco Plush Pad"

This is the third Ecoplush rug pad we have purchased in the past few months. We are very pleased with the quality. There is absolutely no odor or harmful chemicals, which makes us happy. When you first put it under the rug it is super plush (we got the 3/8ths), but over a few months it will smash down a bit and not be as plush--but still very nice and well worth the money. I will continue to order more of these pads in the future and have already recommended them to family who have also ordered.

PVC Rug Pads

Our only PVC rug pad is the Anchor Grip rug pad. This rug pad uses a high-performance soybean oil polymer blend for superior gripping power and long-lasting support. These pads were engineered using a proprietary formula specifically designed to prevent floors from drying out, sticking, and yellowing. You won’t find any plasticizers or harmful chemicals in these pads.

Cat Tested

Our lively cat likes to run and slide throughout our home. While we enjoy watching her play, oftentimes she slides into our rugs in the entry way squashing them up against the front door. As you can imagine this has been a trip hazard for us. With our new rug pads - problem solved! The rugs stay in place. We love them.

Memory Foam Rug Pads

Memory foam carpet padding is for rugs where you want supreme comfort. These pads use the same 100% Visco elastic memory foam that you would find in a memory foam topper or memory foam mattress.

"Cloud Comfort is the perfect name!"

I ordered two Cloud Comfort pads for rugs that were located in front of sinks in the kitchen and bathroom. They're so comfortable to stand on, and my rugs don't slip. I also don't have to worry that the pads will discolor my new LVT.
